Code in Linz:
Risk it Live
Code in Linz: Risk it Live is a community gathering centered on art forms in the field of live coding. Our goal with this project is to promote and revitalize the live coding scene in Linz, thereby contributing to the city’s commitment to new forms of expression at the intersection of society, art, and technology.
Live coding is, in the broadest sense, an improvised algorithmic practice. This means that artists establish rules for the development of the artistic material, which then unfolds before the audience’s eyes. Live coding practitioners typically do this by writing code live, and they usually share the code they write with the audience, which makes this art form, in a sense, very open and transparent.
In this edition of Code in Linz: Risk it Live, we aim to offer artists from Linz’s emerging live-coding scene a space to share their practice, provide the audience with a space to enjoy it, and create a space where, hopefully, new people will discover an interest in this algorithmic art form.
